The Minnesota Book Publishers' Roundtable began more than twenty-five years ago as a small group of publishing professionals meeting around a restaurant table and has blossomed into a diverse group representing a cross section of publishing activity in Minnesota. Its purpose is:
- To develop, advance, and promote the book publishing industry in Minnesota and adjacent areas;
- To provide book publishers and others in related professions and trades an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences; and
- To promote good fellowship and friendly cooperation among its members.
Our bimonthly meetings provide a casual lunch and networking time along with the opportunity to hear key speakers address issues timely and informative for publishing professionals. In addition, the Roundtable partners with MN Publishing Tweet Up in hosting monthly happy hours for publishing professionals, colleagues, and book lovers. Back by popular demand, the 2013–2014 season also includes a freelance fair before the January event, giving freelancers and publishers a chance to connect.
Membership in the Roundtable is open to Minnesota book publishers and those from related industries. Members receive a discounted fee to our events as well as inclusion of their company info in our membership directory. This season, we’re offering a new benefit to members: audio recordings of each event! The recordings are posted on our website (on a password-protected page) as soon as possible after each event. Members receive the password in an email when they register for membership. (For organizations, the primary contact listed on the membership form receives the password to distribute to staff members.)
Membership dues are $75 per organization or $40 per individual. (Note: The individual rate is intended for freelancers and one-person companies; any organization with two or more employees is required to pay the organization rate.)
